Refined rebellion at Marc by Marc

My girl, Julia, on the Marc by Marc runway 9.14.1o
If this season's Marc Jacobs show was Guy Bourdain Barbie, then Marc by Marc was Skipper as interpreted by Helmut Newton.
Both makeup looks had strength and glamour in spades.
Marc Jacobs went for drama with a smokey, glossy eye and deep red, matte mouth.
Marc by Marc featured smudged, lined eyes with clear gloss on the nude lids. The lips were a playful poppy orange-red - also matte, also totally "there" - conveying the carefree, deliciously devious side of the Marc Jacobs girl.

Marc Jacobs s/s 2o11

The Look > Luxe-louche '7o's Drama
The Girl > Kasia
The Cabine > more cramped than cramped
The Venue > the Armory
The Show > Stunning

Max Azria s/s 2o11

The Max Azria show was simply gorgeous.
The barely-there makeup had sophisticated subtlety -
embodying both pedigree & youth at once.
These are my girls, Patricia and Jacquelyn.

NY Fashion Week s/s 2o11

This season has been gorgeously amazing! Bleached brows are It.

Me making up Kasia for Marc Jacobs & overview of the melee in the MJ cabine.
Much as I adore blogging in detail, I am absolutely knackered from a cray-cray week of shows & shoots.
::Happy-Tired::
Please bear with me as I regain my verve & please stay tuned for the fleshed-out coverage of MORE shows, MORE photos, lots of backstage shots & of course mucho mas makeup talk.

Alexander Wang: Less is More

The makeup look at Alexander Wang was very minimalist - it was all about the skin...and bleached eyebrows. Each girl's brows got bleached the moment she arrived backstage, and following the show we dyed every last one of them back to natural.

Here's Daria with her face just completed by me & waiting for first looks.
Below we see her in full effect on the runway:
